Our final product concept and design originated from our desire to have the Codex Cradle cover a variety of sizes of books. To achieve this task, we plan on having the product have the ability to double in size by adjustable, collapsible notches on the backbone of the holder. We also wanted to insure the product will be able to allow the reader to turn the pages easily. To accommodate for this constraint, we have chosen to have 4 clamps (2 upper and 2 lower clamps) rotate off the page at both sides of the device by a fixed axis mechanism. We added six 15° divots at each clamp site to allow a full 90° span of rotation as well. This accommodates a wide range of page thicknesses, and further enables our product to be used by a variety of book types. Finally, we added 2 latches and hinges across the median of our product so it can fold in on itself, thus creating a more portable product.
